Alert: Bitcoin Scammer poses as LHC employee

A scam trying to gain access to bitcoin wallets and blockchain is posing as an employee of LHC.

*A *scammer is sending emails from an email address called cases@cybersecurityy-blockchain-support.com, whilst using the logo of the Luxembourg House of Cybersecurity and the National Cybersecurity Competence Center (NC3). Said scammer is trying to gain access to bitcoin wallets and blockchains.

In this case the scammer is using branding that is not in use anymore, as the responsible agency for cybersecurity, Luxembourg House of Cybersecurity, has been inaugurated in 2022 as well as a logo, that is not matching to the name.

On that same year, CASES has evolved into the National Cybersecurity Competence Center (NC3), resulting in the naming and branding “CASES” not being used anymore. If you have any questions about topics previously handled by CASES, please refer to the NC3, which also offers more information on cybersecurity and trainings on that topic.

The Cybersecurity Incident Response Center (CIRCL) encourages affected companies and agencies to communicate openly when their branding is being used for scams of any sort. We thank the person, that received the scam mail for bringing this issue to our attention.

No reputable organisation will ever ask for passwords, banking account details or any other sensitive information via email or on the phone.

CIRCL offers different services for scanning suspicious emails, files or websites without having to open them locally.

If your organisation has been compromised, don’t hesitate to reach out to CIRCL directly. In case your private accounts have been hacked or you are experiencing issues as a private person, please contact ****BEE SECURE.
