TeamLU at ECSC 2024
TeamLU fought once again in the ECSC, which this year was held in Turin, Italy in its 9th edition. The ECSC - European Cybersecurity Challenge is an initiative by the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA) and aims at enhancing cybersecurity talent across Europe and connecting high potentials with industry leading organizations.
After the opening ceremony on the first day challenges included various categories, each requiring specific skills: cryptography, reverse engineering, web security, hardware security on real PCB, android and mobile security, digital forensics, windows and binary exploitation.
On Thursday, October 10, 2024, the second and final day of competition took place which was characterized by an attack-defense challenge, where teams were tasked with repairing their own services while maintaining functionality, all the while trying to compromise those of their opponents. This format not only tested their technical skills but also required complex strategies.
Participants have shown great commitment and a strong spirit of fairplay, embodying the core values of this competition, an opportunity for learning and collaboration among young talents from all over the world.
The winners of the competition are Germany in first place, Italy in second place and Poland in third place.
Luxembourg managed to hold strong against the other participants and finished in 27th place out of 31 participating countries.
"It’s amazing to see what we can achieve as a young team! However, we still have a long way to go to compete at the top, which is why we need to promote the event more” says team captain Fred about the whole experience.
